The challenge

BAT is on a journey to ‘Closing the Gap to Zero’, constantly striving to reduce health and safety incidents and injuries across its sites. To achieve that goal, it needed its leaders to set the right culture and behaviours.

Our solution

We developed a suite of materials to engage site leaders across BAT in their health and safety leadership role.

At the heart of our approach was an interactive one day workshop for site leadership teams to highlight how the decisions they take can have a direct impact on the health and safety culture and performance at their site.

The workshop enabled leaders to understand how they can influence health and safety risks and controls – even if they are in a functional role – and to identify specific and personal actions that they can take to influence health and safety mindsets and behaviours at their site.

The leadership workshops are being piloted in Latin America prior to being rolled out across BAT worldwide.
