Developing future business leaders
Valor is an ambitious and expanding international hotel ownership and management group. To support their expansion plans they wanted to create a pool of leadership talent ready for key senior roles.
A practical development programme for future leaders
We developed an initial assessment day to identify potential talent followed by a comprehensive leadership training programme comprising multiple learning modules, a cross-function project and a series of internal expertise sessions run by senior executives.
Key topics included essentials of leadership, creating a vision for change, managing performance and building high performing teams.
The programme was designed to encourage accountability and self-development, with a focus on driving results.
A senior executive sponsor was allocated to each project to provide mentorship and on-going support. Projects were designed to develop a better understanding of other functions and departments, and to deliver a measurable difference to the business over the nine-month period.
Feedback from the internally-grown talent has been overwhelmingly positive. Over half of all senior positions in 2019 were filled by internal future leaders and the business are now on to their third generation of future leaders.
